The epicenter was in Hunterdon County, New Jersey but the tremors and effects could be felt in Pennsylvania. Even people as far over as Lancaster County and Reading felt the shaking and heard the loud noise.

Earthquakes aren't just scary to be a part of, they are dangerous and cause a lot of damage in an instant. Thankfully there has been no major damage reported from Friday's quake.

If you felt your home shaking and have noticed some cracks or foundation damage sprouting up from this event please don't hesitate to give SERVPRO of Adamstown, Mohnton a call at (717) 484-0007 to come out and asses the situation for you.

Watch Out For Those April Showers!

3/28/2024 (Permalink)

April showers can bring a lot more than just flowers, for many it can bring flood and water issues. Before the rainy season comes, here are a few tips you can follow to keep your house or business dry.

First, make sure your gutters are clear from leaves and debris that may have gotten stuck during the fall and winter seasons. Then make sure your down spouts are clear as well.

Sometimes downspouts can have unseen blockages that keep your gutters from doing their job, so make sure those are in good condition. Make sure the water exiting your down spouts will lead away from your house.

Another thing to keep an eye on is the ground around your house. Keep the ground sloping down away from your house. If you notice the ground is sloping in toward your house water can puddle there and cause foundation leaks.

SERVPRO of Adamstown, Mohnton is available 24/7 for any of your water damage issues, but we hope following these tips will keep you warm and dry.

Finding Your Water Shut Off Valve

8/27/2023 (Permalink)

Knowing where your water shut off valve is whether you are a homeowner or a renter could save you a lot of stress. Incase of flooding, leaky pipes, or over flow issues; knowing where your shut off valves are could end up saving you a lot of money and prevent more water damage.

Generally you can find shut off valves under sinks, behind toilets, and other locations where plumbing failures can happen like laundry rooms. If you need to shut off the water to a sink remember to shut off both the hot water and cold water valves located on the pipes underneath the sink. A running toilet can be shut off or stopped by reaching behind the toilet to find the valve and turning it all the way until the water stops running through.

If any of your valves are failing you can use the main water shut off valve to stop all water flow. It can be found in your basement along the wall closest to the street, or it may be outside next to your water meter. For those with a private well it may be next to your water pump. Shutting off these valves quickly can help prevent more damage in a water catastrophe then call SERVPRO at (717)484-0007 to repair the rest!
